New Approaches to the perfect Thanksgiving Outfit

Sunday, November 19, 2017

Good Morning, friends! I'm back and oh so happy I am! Although fall is by far my favorite time of the year, it also happens to be the busiest. These past couple weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind, but they've been SO good. My time has mostly been occupied by involvement with the musical production at my school. I wanted (& needed) to absorb every second of it. Being a senior definitely makes me realize how much I truly enjoy all the things I get to do through my high school. I am looking forward to savoring my final semester.  Y'all, life is so good! Speaking of all things happy, Thanksgiving is in just a couple of days! YAY! Last year I gave y'all three Thanksgiving outfit ideas (read here), but this year,  I wanted to give you guys ideas that aren't soo... as my friends would say: "basic." For today's post I took some typical pieces worn on Thanksgiving and styled them in ways you wouldn't expect.

No.1: A Twist on Holiday Plaid

[ Dress: ROOLEE (sold out) // Turtleneck: Topshop (similar) // Necklace: my mom's ;) // Shoes: Frances Jaye ]

Instead of pairing plaid with jeans, a cardigan, and some booties, I switched things up and went with this adorable plaid patchwork dress. I knew I'd be a bit chilly in this dress, but instead of pairing it with a cardigan, I layered it with my favorite turtleneck. I absolutely love this combo. It is the perfect look for Thanksgiving... casual yet festive. For my shoes, I wore my current faves: these super cool cut-out booties. (I may or may not be wearing these in the other two looks as well ;))

No. 2: Say Hello to the Upgraded Winter Vest

[ Dress: Old Navy (similar) // Vest: Target (sold out) // Shoes: Frances Jaye ]

When I think of Thanksgiving attire, a vest tends to pop into my head. Instead of styling the typical puffer vest, I thought I would create a look with this adorable fringe one. We typically pair vests with flannels and jeans, but for this look, I went with this lovely olive dress. This outfit doesn't scream Thanksgiving and I kind of like that. The dress and vest combo create their own unique holiday look.

No.3: Sweater Swap!

[ Tee: Old Navy // Poncho: Old Navy (from a couple years ago) // Jeans: ASOS // Shoes: Frances Jaye ]

Finally for the last look, I wanted to give y'all a casual & comfy outfit. Another Thanksgiving staple is definitely the chunky sweater; however, for this look I thought I would change things up and wear a poncho. I wanted the poncho to be the main focus of the outfit, so I kept it simple and wore black jeans and a black long sleeve tee underneath. Y'all this look is one of my favs. It is SO comfy & cozy but looks very put together as well.

I encourage you to try new things this year with your Thanksgiving outfits. I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving with your family and friends. Cultivating a grateful heart is such an important practice. Be conscious of this not only this week in particular, but throughout the holiday season. We truly have so much to be thankful for!

I'm so thankful for all y'all for always sticking around!
Much love!!
xx, Anne
