A New England Adventure

Sunday, November 26, 2017

Happy Sunday, friends! Wooahh, time has flown by once again! I can't believe that all of the Thanksgiving festivities are already wrapped up. I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving with your friends and family. This is hands down one of the happiest times of the year. Gah, I just love it. This year was extra special because my family and I traveled out east to visit family. Oh what fun we had! I'm so excited to share with y'all our adventures in New England.

We began our Thanksgiving travels on Tuesday. I don't think I have ever traveled in an airport right before a holiday. Let me tell ya... it is something special! I normally think of airports as rather sterile and serious places. Everyone kind of minds their own business and is very focused and ready to get on their way. But this time around, everyone had an extra skip in their step. It was so heart warming to see how happy & excited everyone was to either travel home or visit family. Ah the holidays are such a special time of the year!!

Well anyway, we arrived at my family's home outside of Boston late Tuesday night. The next day we woke & had an amazing breakfast featuring one of my favorite foods...  homemade waffles! Gah I'm not sure why I love them so much; I just do! We then set out for the next adventure. We were to spend the next couple days in their second house in Maine.

My family's home is easily one of my favorite places to be! Their house is so inviting and happy. Music is always playing, a fire is always going, and ah it's just such a cozy place to spend time, especially at this time of year.

Thanksgiving day was nothing short of amazing! In the morning we set out on a hike. Boy oh boy was it beautiful! I've never been hiking in the winter before, so to see all the pines dusted with snow was absolutely breathtaking! As my mom would say, it was straight out of a Hallmark movie!

After our day's adventures, we settled back down to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner... talk about amazing!! My aunt and uncle are some of the best cooks I know. We ended the night with multiple rounds of Settlers of Catan. It can get pretty competitive playing with my sisters & cousins!

On Friday, we set out for more hiking... yay!! Friday's hike was quite the slippery one, but the views were well worth the treacherous climb and the weather was beautiful! It was def warmer than Thursday's hike which meant no winter coat was needed!! I find so much joy in the outdoors. It is so nice to escape from the daily hustle and bustle and just enjoy the beauty of nature. It was a perfect reminder of all the wonderful things there are to be thankful for. There is no better way to cultivate a grateful heart than in nature!

I hope you all had a wonderful break with your families. I cannot wait to enjoy more special moments  during the Christmas season. Let the Christmas count-down begin!

Enjoy your week!!
xx, Anne

  1. That place looks stunning! I visited New England and USA a few years back, but would love to spend a few weeks in US properly travelling around.
