Happy August 13th!! I can't believe it, you guys. I start my senior year of high school on Thursday. Life is moving so quickly... but I'm super excited for this school year to begin! Because I am so looking forward to the first day, I thought it was only fitting to do a little back to school themed post. Today I will be sharing my top clothing essentials for back to school season. For those of y'all that aren't in school, these are also perfect essentials for transitioning from summer to fall. In this post, I'll be sharing the essential, styling it, and then giving y'all multiple options for where you can purchase it!
ESSENTIAL NO. 1: Ruffle Sleeve Tee
I've been a huge ruffle lover all my life so when I started to see this trend popping up, my heart burst with happiness. I cannot tell you how practical these tees are! They can be styled so many different ways. One of my favorite ways to wear them is under tanks or sleeveless dresses. When fall comes around, I always get a little sad putting away some of my favorite dresses and tanks, but with this ruffle tee you don't have to! Just pop it right under your summer favs and you'll be good to go. Bonus!! They also look adorable by themselves!! These tees seriously make an endless number of outfits.

ESSENTIAL NO. 2: Short Sleeve Button Down
This may be one of my favorite tops I own (probably bc it's gingham, ha!) but this top is the perfect transitional piece, gingham or not! I absolutely adore that this top gives off a nice fall vibe but it is still wearable in the warmer weather. Short sleeve button downs look great with jeans, skirts, jean jackets, or even left open with your fav graphic tee underneath. Name a shirt that is better than this (besides the ruffle tee of course)?!!
ESSENTIAL NO. 3: Black Jeans
If you haven't noticed, I wore black jeans in the past two essential looks, so they are definitely an essential. I think I wore black jeans 3 out 5 days a week last school year. The reason why I love black jeans so much is that they make every outfit look more high-end. I'm gonna run y'all through a little activity real quick to prove my point 😉. Take a look at the three outfits I have shown so far. Now, close your eyes and imagine me wearing regular jeans with those outfits... See what I mean?! Black jeans are absolute perfection when it comes to styling outfits. They honestly do make every outfit look more put together.
ESSENTIAL NO. 4: Denim Skirt
I remember buying this skirt a couple years ago and sending a pic of it to my sis and asking her if it was too weird to wear. I guess the decision to keep it was a good one, because now it is totally on trend! It's gone from weird to absolutely adorable. The reason I'm head over heels for this skirt is the fact that it is super versatile when it comes to styling. It looks so lovely with fun fancy blouses (tucked or untucked) and looks great dressed down as well. Lately, I have been loving wearing this skirt with sneaks and a t-shirt. It looks so fun and playful. A denim skirt is also one of the most perfect transition pieces out there. One of my favorite ways to style it is with a chunky sweater. It gives off such a cute, cozy look.
ESSENTIAL NO. 5: Slip-ons
Slip ons are one of the most practical shoes on the market. They look so cute with dresses/skirts or can be dressed down with leggings and a tee. Kind of like black jeans, these shoes make every outfit look more high-end and are a perfect alternative to converse or other sneaks. These shoes are always one of my go-tos.

Hey sweet gal! I purchased mine at Saks Off Fifth! They are by Steve Madden. I tried finding a place that still sells them... but the best I could find were listings on Poshmark. They are called the Steve Madden "Emuse Sneaker" for reference! :) And black jeans are seriously the best... I'm glad I'm not the only one who wears them all the time.
