Battle of the Stripes

Sunday, August 21, 2016

Hello, friends! Happy Sunday! As some of you may know, I am a twin! Yup that's right! Her name is Kate and she is the absolute sweetest. She is the kind soul who  takes all of my pictures every week for posts. I have been getting quite a few questions about her recently, so I thought what better way to share her sweetness with y'all than to do a post together!
Growing up, Kate and I always loved our striped clothing. Stripes are a classic pattern... always fun and fabulous. We thought it would be super fun for each of us to take one of our favorite striped clothing items and style it three different ways for you all.

Outfit No. 1

I'm up first! My all time favorite striped clothing piece is this boxy, striped top from Loft. I absolutely adore it. I wanted this look to be city-chic, so I decided to pair it with some slightly distressed light-wash jeans. Pairing it with these jeans give the outfit a more relaxed feel. As for the shoes, I went with sneakers. This super fun pair is a recent addition to my closet! They have a bit of a platform and the prettiest pointed toe which definitely contributes to the chic vibe of the outfit. The mini-backpack took it even farther. It goes perfectly with the outfit and ties it all together. I then finished it off with a simple gold watch.

One of Kate's favorite  striped clothing items is this navy and white dress from J Crew Factory. It goes with everything. You can dress it up or down. Kate loves styling this outfit with her favorite sneakers and a cute red baseball hat. Navy and red is a classic color combination! This is the perfect on-the-go outfit. It's casual but cute!

One of my favorite ways to wear this striped shirt is with this adorable striped skort. The flap in the front gives this outfit so much more dimension and the structure balances the boxiness of the shirt. These two pieces make the perfect pair. To finish off this look, I went with the same black sneakers and gold watch...minimal and chic!

Mixing patterens is always so much fun! I absolutely love when the look of flannels tied at the waist with a dress. Plaid and stripes are two great patterns to mix. It's such a fun combination. Kate wore simple Birkenstocks with this outfit to keep the attention on the dress and not on the shoes.

This is probably one of my favorite looks from this post. I absolutely adore the way this denim jacket looks with the striped shirt. It looks effortless. To give it a bit more pizzaz and color, I decided to accessorize with this super cute red scarf. The pattern of the scarf  is a lovely compliment to the stripes. I then paired this outfit with some black jeans to keep the bottom half simple...But not too simple! I just had to add one more pattern to this look... so cheetah flats it was!

If you are looking for an outfit that is a little bit dressier, this is the one fore you! How cute does Kate look in this?! The army jacket gives this pull-over dress some more structure. The accessories, however, are the real key to this look. She went with a long, geometric necklace for a lengthening effect. To throw a pop of color in the mix, she added these adorable red suede sandals. This outfit looks so put together and would work great for multiple occasions!
