Preparing Your Heart For Change

Sunday, February 18, 2018

As always, I hope you all had an amazing week. This week was super special for me because I went on my twin sister Kate's final college visit. Knowing that we will be hours away from each other for the first time in our lives makes my heart so sad. That's why I wanted to talk about change in today's post. Whether you're in the same boat as me and you're embarking on a totally new journey in the coming months or you are experiencing change in a relationship/friendship, a schedule, something big or something small, keep reading.

Transitions are hard. Honestly, I think they might be one of the hardest parts of life. Whether it be moving, related to a relationship/friendship, or new things in general, watching something familiar fade away is a struggle. I always find it difficult to leave something you love behind. I adore high school, for example. I love all my friends SO dearly. Just thinking about goodbyes makes my heart ache. Don't get me wrong, I'm SO excited for college, but I would be lying to y'all if I said my heart wasn't attached to all the lovely people at home.
So when we were driving home from Kate's college visit, I did some thinking. Lots of thinking. I started to wonder how I would prepare my heart for change. How would I be able to move on from a place I love that is filled with people I love? How will I find that same happiness in a new place where I know no one?
I began to realize that the way I deal with change is up to me. My attitude towards change will determine how it affects me.

These statements ran through my head & adjusted my thoughts about the coming months:

Make the most of your life now. Be present. Be the best YOU you can be.

Just because you love life now doesn't mean you can't find that same joy in your new journey.

We can either look at change as finding difficulty in a new opportunity or finding opportunity in a new difficulty. Perspective is everything, you guys!

Accepting the past and treasuring memories helps you focus on creating the life you want to be living now and becoming the person you want to be.

Praying for each of y'all this week with whatever change you may be going through. Let your heart rest; do not worry.

"...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6

With love,
Anne
